Ever have one of those days where you just have no idea what you are doing? It's as if the synapses in my brain are twitching, but then they're sparking out.
I have an impulse to create a poem, but no words or thoughts with which to complete that idea.
Every time I leave the screen I'm on with the intention of going to look at something else on line, I completely forget what it was I seeking in the first place.
I wanted to write a Sepia Saturday post, but it's looking like it might end up being a Sepia Sunday or even Monday, at this rate!
I wanted to sort out my genealogy archives. The hard copies I'm preparing to transfer to another site because my Ancestry.ca membership is about to expire and I cannot afford to pay for another year's subscription (to the tune of $299.00). The problem is, I've misplaced my notes for my mother's side.
I've been reading and thoroughly enjoying, Bram Stoker's, "Dracula", so I think I'll just get back to that for now and let my brain have a breather.
Oh, did I mention, I'm also learning the Latin hymn, "Ubi Caritas" for our upcoming Easter Choir performances? That's a bit taxing on the old synapses too.
Not our choir!
I have those kinds of days more often then not. I want to create, do... but I can't. I feel scattered. Distracted. But it goes away! I agree, read. You mind wants to take it all in right now, let it. :)
ReplyDeleteThere's a little war waging inside my head: write a poem! No! Read the book! No! Play with Picasa! No! Read the book! (ad nauseam)
DeleteThat is precisely how I have been feeling a good bit of this last month, Kat. I think I have something to say and BAM... more like an electricity zap, nothing. Or I am ready to write, but a poem happens. I start to work on the story of my mom and me, and the rest of the family starts clamoring in my head. And the phone makes my brain explode, which is kinda messy, really.
ReplyDeleteBut it passes. Often I find that after one of those phases--like right now for me--all sorts of new and unexpected things issue forth.
Is it an age thing, I wonder? I hate the phone and won't answer it unless I absolutely have to.
DeleteThings have been good lately - very creative, but I think I'm just tired after a difficult week on the personal front (see post below).
Yes I do. I was going to say something about this but I've forgotten what it was...
ReplyDeleteAnd who are you again? Refresh my memory!
DeleteWhat a perfect image for this particular post, a post, btw, that made me feel right at home. Not to mention the comment and reply about phones....I hate them, also, and never answer it. Is that not what the message robot was created for?!
ReplyDeleteYou have had an emotionally draining week. I hope you allow yourself some respite this weekend. Myself, I will relax listening to this video a couple more times...truly beautiful.
Lydia, it is so encouraging to feel that others go through the same thing. When you reach a certain age, you start to wonder if it's possible that something else is causing your memory loss. I suppose, if I'm honest, I can put it down to female mid-life and there's an end to it. I just didn't think this whole "midlife" syndrome would go on so long.
DeleteWe're heading out for a culinary tour of our town today, despite the weather having done a complete about-face, moving from the balminess of spring right back into a harsh winter day replete with blowing winds, snow squalls and COLD temperatures.
I'm so glad you like the Ubi Caritas, it is beautiful, isn't it?
I think I'm more advanced. We call the phenomenon "Senior moments", though mine can last all day. I don't feel that the synapses are sparking out. more that they've all linked in to the wrong partners! Great post, if a little too close to the truth for me!
ReplyDeleteDave, I think I have early-onset "Senior Moments". It's a little scary, isn't it? Judging by your blog, and your work, I don't think you have anything to worry about.
