New Year's Eve Villanelle

My Uke
I resolve to learn my bright red ukulele,
It's in my blood; Great Granda had a fiddle.
To conquer chords, you need to practice daily.

The uke is fun, it strums the tunes so gaily;
If mine were electric, I would widdle.
I resolve to learn my bright red ukulele

Hawaiians play with ease, their songs are wail-y;
Some play so fast, it makes you want a piddle.
To conquer chords you need to practice daily

Not pulling this one out for any ceilidh;
My tuning's off, still working on my twiddle.
I resolve to learn my bright red ukulele.

Don't think I'll ever master old, "Bill Bailey";
It still sounds  like a washboard or a griddle.
To conquer chords you need to practice daily

Right now my fingering is rather Braille-y;
Can't seem to find the fret that's in the middle.
I resolve to learn my bright red ukulele.

I'd love to play Mike Scott's, "Spring Comes to Spiddal",
Or even just a fine, "Hey Diddle Diddle".
I resolve to learn my bright red ukulele;
To conquer chords you need to practice daily.
